Lori
Weitzner is proud to announce the launch of her new company Weitzner, a
parallel venture to her design studio that applies her talents to a new
discipline: wallcovering. These wallcoverings are a result of
Weitzner’s twenty years at the forefront of the textile industry.
Weitzner is esteemed for the lyricism of her surface designs as well as
her expertise with the tactile; the wallcoverings celebrate both.
Weitzner is an entirely fresh take on furnishings for the wall. For the
first time, Lori has not merely designed but also produced her
collections, to be introduced semi-annually and distributed by Bergamo
Fabrics.
The collection includes sumptuous materials in unexpected contexts,
handcrafted effects married with innovative weaving technologies. The
papers are quietly beautiful, artistically groundbreaking, and
appropriate for residential, commercial, and hospitality applications.
Lori describes her style as "depth in simplicity," her aim to imbue the
designs with an undercurrent of emotional resonance. Thus her textiles
are intended to encourage specific moods or visceral responses:
excitement, healing, reflection, inspiration, and assurance.
BEACON
Plain faux leather. Leather wallcoverings are highly unusual, and sure
to project a unique, luxurious sensibility. Beacon faux leather feels
and looks like the real thing. It was innovated by Weitzner to be
especially thin, and to install as easily as wallpaper.
FIELDINGS
Metallic open lattice-weave laid over colored paper. Weitzner’s fresh
take on grass cloth features a glimmering, textured grid atop paper
that’s been dyed in unexpected hues. The pattern title comes from
farmers’ furrowed plow lines as seen from the air.
FROST
Treated paper. This pattern has an icy shimmer, created by melting
miniature glass beads onto colored paper so that its surface sparkles
and refracts light like crushed jewels.
MADISON
Quilted faux suede. Weitzner is the first to introduce this elegant
faux suede to the market specifically developed for walls. Made in a
paper lightweight: a lightweight material with a non-woven back.
Quilted in an oversized classic diamond pattern, it conveys a stately,
formal chic.
MANOR
Quilted faux leather. Leather wallcoverings are highly unusual, and sure to project a unique, luxurious sensibility.
MEDEA
Linen/silk blend look. Taking its cue from ancient drama. Weitzner
intended this pattern’s character to be arresting. It utilizes modern
yarns and up to the minute colors to bring a classic Thai silk look
into the 21st century. Medea juxtaposes thick with delicate, shiny with
matte, and (with one exception) dark with light, in a sensual,
dimensional, elegant wallcovering.
OCEANA
Nonwoven fabric. Weitzner uses an innovative bleaching technique to
distress the surface with a non-repeating fleck pattern that recalls
weathered buildings. Suggested as a special base, the earthly palette
is quietly striking, coordinating easily with other room treatments yet
standing its own ground.
SONATA
This textural handmade paper is dyed and printed with a branch pattern
giving the illusion of a traditional Japanese watercolor in the ancient
technique used for calligraphy. Four “chameleon” neutrals cast toward
cream, blush, grey or olive.
SYNCOPATION
Pleated rayon blend. A soft, rhythmic horizontal pleating creates
dimension and depth, absorbs sound well, yet is subtle enough visually
to stay in the background.
