Tracy Kendall produces bespoke wallpaper with a subtle elegance and
contemporary twist, proving that there are few limitations to what you
can achieve with paper and print. She is renowned for her
custom-produced print collection, where magnified feathers, plants and
florals have been pared down to produce simple, modern designs in a
variety of tones and colours.
Recently she has moved into three-dimensional
design creating a range of wallpapers using a stitch and cut technique
which introduces texture and shape to a wall. These designs indulge our
senses through sight, sound and touch and create a stunning backdrop or
focal point to any space.
Tracy Kendall's bespoke wallpapers can be found in the most
prestigious living rooms and public spaces from Paris to New York. From
Papers as innovative as "in the white room" - where layers of paper are
stitched on to a backing and left to flutter to the sparkling beauty of
floating sequins. These are a perfect marriage of interior design and
modern art. The white room has been used by one client as wallpaper
that doubles as a notice board - there is no need for an object of
beauty to be serious. Tracy stands firm on her belief that her
wallpaper can have a sense of humour as well as a beautiful aesthetic.
Tracy's ever expanding repertoire increased in popularity with the oversized cutlery range Eat.
It was then that she began to manipulate the textures of the papers to
give the wall a personality of its own, from petit diamant to a wall of
flapper fringe you can see that Tracy's approach is that wallpaper can
have a sense of humour.
The Print Collection
These larger-than-life hand-printed graphical images create
wonderful visual impact when used as a single piece or collectively.
They have been refined down to their purist form and enhance both
traditional and contemporary interiors alike.
The collection includes a variety of florals, feathers, plants and
cutlery. The images are 2.15m high and can be tailored to fit within a
particular space.
They can be reproduced in a single colour, or printed as a
gradation or rainbow effect. The tone or colour of the background paper
can be changed.
In the White Room
A cut and re-stitch technique is used to create a
three-dimensional quasi-patchwork effect. Interior designers have used
this paper to add a beautiful, tactile and textured effect as
illustrated above.
This wallpaper, as with the rest of the bespoke range, is designed
and produced for a specific space. Similar to commissioning a
tailor-made suit, it is as close to interior haute couture as you can
get.
Sequins
With some of the images from the print collection sequins,
threads, crystals and beads can be applied by hand adding a
three-dimensional element. This creates a magical and enchanting
affect, which demonstrates the true quality of handmade wallpaper.
